Required Paperwork

All paperwork must be filled out prior to trying out for a sport.  Please see the “Forms” page for all the paperwork needed.  

Prior to trying out for a sport during the school year, students must check in with the Nease Athletic Trainer to confirm they are cleared to tryout.  There will be a “Check In” table for each sport or you can bring paperwork to the Nease front office.  Physicals and paperwork are good for only one year.  If you are a transfer to Nease, please make sure you complete the notarized Transfer form.

Boys Basketball Camp

Head Boys Basketball Coach Josh Bailen is hosting a boys basketball skills camp on three upcoming Saturdays – October 21, October 28 and November 4.  The sessions run from 9 a.m. to 12 noon in the Nease gym.  The camp is open to 4th to 8th grade boys wanting to sharpen their fundamental skills.  The cost is $40 per each 3 hour session.  You can pre-register online at Walk up registration is available but open spots may fill up.

2017 Winter Sports Tryouts

Girls Weightlifting Team –  There is a Girls Weightlifting paperwork turn-in scheduled for Wednesday, October 4 after school in the gym.  All interested players need to complete paperwork to participate in Girls Weightlifting.  Practice begins on Monday, October 9 in the Weight Room at 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.  The team will practice on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Girls Soccer  – There is a Girls Soccer paperwork turn-in scheduled for Wednesday, October 11 after school in the gym.   Tryouts will begin on Monday, October 16.

Boys Soccer – If you are interested in trying out for Boys Soccer please turn in your required paperwork on Wednesday, October 18 in the gym after school so you can attend the tryouts on Monday, October 23.  Tryouts will be held from Monday, October 23 to Friday, October 27 at 4:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the practice field near the portables.

Girls Basketball Team – The Girls Basketball Team will have their paperwork turn in on Wednesday, October 25 in the gym after school.  Tryouts will be on Monday, October 30 and Tuesday, October 31 in the Landrum Middle School gym after school.

Boys Basketball –  The Boys Basketball paperwork turn in is set for Wednesday, November 1 in the gym after school.  Tryouts are scheduled for Monday, November 6 in the Nease gym (JV-9th/10th graders at 7 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and Varsity-11th/12th graders at 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.).  Please make sure you turn in all of your paperwork to be eligible to tryout.

Wrestling – Wrestling will have a paperwork turn in on Wednesday, November 1 in the gym after school.  Tryouts/practice begins on Monday, November 6 in the Wrestling Room after school.

Golf Cart Give-away

Congratulations to Jennifer Childers!  She was the winner of the Nease Athletics Golf Cart Give-away!  Her son Chaz Childers-12th grade is a member of the Boys Soccer team.

Nease Baseball State Champions!

Congratulations to the Boys Baseball team for winning the 2017 FHSAA 7A State Championship!  The team traveled to Fort Myers for the State Finals and beat King High School (Tampa)  with a score of 11-0.  Nease knocked out Dwyer High School  (Palm Beach Gardens) with a score of 2 -1 to make it to the Championship game against King.

District Champions/Regional Runner Up

Congratulations to the Nease Girls Golf team for winning the District 6 Championship!  They had the low team score of 308 and the next closest score was 327.  Way to go girls!!  They continued their season at Regionals and placed as runner up and went to States and placed fourth!

Nease female athletes took to the screen for a special video highlighting how playing high school sports has positively impacted their lives.  Female athletes…Do you play?

Player of the Year

Nease senior student-athlete Aris Duffey was named the St. Johns County “2015-16 Defensive Player of the Year” for Football by the St. Augustine Record. Congratulations!

Rising sophomore Katherine Jakeway was named as the St. Augustine Record’s “2014-15 Player of the Year” for Girls Tennis. She beat the number one player from every county public school at least once this spring. Katherine ended the season with a 15-1 record. Congratulations!

Cheer Team Wins Grand Championship!

Congratulations to our Nease Competitive Cheer Squad for winning First Place – Small Varsity Division at the UCA All Out Championships at UNF this weekend.  The Nease Team was also named Grand Champion at the event, which means they scored higher than all 26 teams in every category!!!  Congratulations Coach Melissa Fraum!
